Ola,
Hey everyone. I'm pleased to say that I've just arrived in Brasil. Well actually, yesterday. I'm in the city of Aruja (Ah-roo-jah). It is about 20 minutes or less away from Sao Paulo, the biggest city in the southern hermisphere. Moreover, this is the third time I've been to Brasil. O primero ves was in 2006 in Rio de Janeiro, and o segunda foi Salvador, Bahia. Both times, I've gone through the Sao Paulo airport, but this time, I got to see parts of Sao Paulo, it is beautiful. Green hills with colorful houses poking out, beautiful shades of brown people, colorful food, and beautiful weather. I don't think the fact that I'll be staying here for six months has really kicked in. Yesterday we went to the supermarket. Today we went to the movie rental store. What I love about Brasil is that you walk. And with that you meet (new) people. Brasil eu gosto demais. (I really like Brazil).
Right now, I'm looking forward to exploring this city, writing in my notebook, and reading the Audacity of Hope by President Obama, listing/dancing to samba, singing to Ivete and Harmonia do Samba, watching the telenovelas, and eating some feijoada.

Congratulations!!!!!!!! So you will enjoy Brazil for 6 months? Did you hear from the Law School? Good luck about this.
Hey, I am very happy for you! I am so glad that you are teaching English in Brazil. Everything at the lab is going well.
Janet sent me your blog address. Matthew and Aliou are friends. I asked Janet to see if she qualifies for work study. She just sent me an email and told me that she does not qualify.
I will encourage her to check this out.
Tell me more about the Teaching method that they use. Maybe it could help me with Manfa's English learning.
My boys say hello to you.
Eli is over two years old.
Eli loves to read and play ball. At his preschool he like to dress up like a dragon and chase the other kids. The other kids love being chased. He also like to watch Zorro and play with swords. He says Zorro, Zorro, Zorro and runs around. He is full of life. it is fun to watch him play.
Emmanuel is 10 years old and he is in 4 th grade. Emmanuel went skating last friday with his class. He loved skating. He also loves swimming. I took Emmanuel to Chuckie Cheeses Sunday after church. Jerred went to his friends house to watch the superbowl. His friends mom went all out and made lots of party food for 10 7th grade boys.
Jerred is 13 years old in 7th grade.
Jerred's school had a International Day lunch last week. Like 100 students taught their parents and visitors about other countries customs and food. All of the students cooked something that was a dish from the country that they studied.
Jerred and his partners Alyssa and Ivan did a report about Brazil for their social studies class. Jerred drew maps of Brazil and he studied some Portuguese. He and his friend Ivan also prepared Brazilian food(Bolo Salgado (a casserole with hamburger, onion, garlic, tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, green onion, this was mixed together with something similar to pizza dough) and Esifera- A triangle shaped salty meat pastry and they served gurana soda.
Their food was a hit.
Aliou is doing well. He is going to school studying Parks & Recreation. He wants to work with kids with disabilities and do fun programing for them. He is working as a manager at Chuckie cheeses. He also works at the lab.
Take care and HAVE lots of fun.
Teaching can be very rewarding...
Sincerely,
Jenifer
